Facts and Figures
The City of Iligan is also known as "The City of Majestic Waterfalls" for its twenty-three waterfalls surrounding the city. It is an urbanized industrial city of the north of the province of Lanao del Norte, Philippines being the province's former capital. According to the 2010 Census, there are over 322, 821 people living in Iligan and it consists of 44 barangays.
Kasadya Festival
Iligan is predominantly Christian with over 93.61% with Catholics constitutes the majority of Christians. The city's patron saint is Saint Michael and the city fiesta devotion to the saint is every 29th of September. During that day, a tri-tribal dance called "Diyandi" is offered to the Patron Saint in a way of thanks for everything he has done for the city.
Tourism
Iligan is well known as the "City of Majestic Waterfalls" for it is surrounded by over 23 waterfalls. Maria Cristina Falls is the primary source of water, electricity and it is the main landmark of the city. Accessible through a 300-step staircase, Tinago falls is popularly known for its beautiful landscape that is perfect for picture-taking and photography. Other falls include Mimbalot Falls, Abaga Falls and Dodiongan Falls.
